Insufficient lubrication of electronic contacts and application of lubricants

With the emergence of new alloy materials and plastics and the requirements of customers, contact technology is also constantly developing. However, efforts are still being made to address the main problems that lead to intermittent switching, such as the inability to produce a perfectly smooth metal contact surface, resulting in the following problems:

Fever

Examining it under a microscope shows that there are many "protrusions" and "grooves" on the contact surface, and when the contacts are closed, only the protrusions actually touch together. Therefore, the real current-carrying surface is much smaller than it appears. Because the current is carried by only a small portion of the designed surface area, the heat generated is concentrated on the protruding portion, resulting in the formation of a high-resistance oxide layer.

As resistance increases, more electrical energy will be converted into heat, resulting in the formation of more oxides. This spiral effect will create "hot spots" that reduce the efficiency of the switch and can cause the switch to fail completely when the two surfaces are fused together.

Use contact grease to solve this problem. Lubricant oil film can greatly increase the effective contact area, because the thin film formed by the lubricant allows electric current to pass. In this way, the switch has the contact surface area originally envisioned by the designer. "Hot spots" are eliminated and the contact resistance remains low and stable.

Arc

Arcs (very small electrical sparks) often occur when unlubricated contacts are opened and closed. The arc pole is destructive because it generates heat, which leads to the formation of oxides, and because the energy of the arc is high, it can generate corrosive agents that cause surface corrosion or damage contact plating. The ionization of air and the associated temperature increase can cause metal migration on the contact surface to form new raised grooves - a common problem in high-power contacts.

Arcing problems often occur in "make & break" type switchgear, each time a contact closes, the contacts may bounce several times before finally closing. This exacerbates the problems discussed earlier, where the current in the line is fluctuating and the noise makes the signal poor quality.

Converters that use contact lubricants do not have this problem because the lubricants have anti-arcing additives added to prevent arcing, the associated temperature rise, and aggressive chemicals formation of things. Expelling air from metal contact surfaces prevents airborne contaminants from forming an insulating barrier on the metal. Contact lubricants create a "cushion" between the contacts, reducing bounce.

Manual feel

The feel of the switch when it works has become a humanized performance indicator, especially in the automotive industry. The technical advantages of contact grease allow it to dictate the feel of a certain switch, which might be punchy and decisive on the dashboard of a commercial vehicle, but smooth and quiet on a luxury sedan.

Electronic contact grease can reduce friction, improve the electronic performance of current passing through the metal interface of the switch and the connector, and form an oil film of an ultra-thin film layer when the contact is closed. Due to the "quantum tunneling effect", the current can flow smoothly. The contact grease when it becomes a thick film after disconnection is insulating and can prevent leakage.

Experiments have shown that contact lubricants can extend the life of switches by more than 200%, while showing excellent performance in a variety of environments, saving valuable time and expensive maintenance. In the 21st century, the global promotion of green environmental protection and product humanization, on the perfectly designed switch, embellished with contact lubricants to improve its performance, and in the product design stage to use contact lubricants, as much as possible not to use expensive materials ( Such as gold, silver and bakelite, etc.), thereby improving performance and saving considerable costs, which is called perfect.

Contact greases are used in a wide variety of applications, including PC edge connectors, relays, switches for washing machines, kettles, hair dryers, and more. For those important switches and contacts that require frequent and stable operation. In the automotive industry, contact greases are used in a wide range of applications to ensure reliable, safe and long-lasting operation of switch contacts, while improving the tactile feel of switch gear. These contact lubricants can also be applied to motor commutators, reducing friction and noise and increasing their life.
